Our Holiday Photo Card

Remember that lovely photo shoot we had a month ago with the very talented Michael Strauss?  We turned his awesome images into this year's Misra family holiday greeting for our friends and family.  Many of you will be getting one in the mail shortly but here is the preview.  Rup & I are so excited for the holidays this year because it is our first holiday season in Charlotte together and our first with the new furry addition to our family.  We are so grateful for everything this holiday season and wish all of you a safe and joyful holiday season as well!

PS.  We've been decorating and getting set up for Christmas ever since Thanksgiving ended so stay tuned to see our Christmas decorations :)

Things I am grateful for

On this Thanksgiving Day I wanted to take a moment to really think about all the things I am so grateful for in my life.

The thing I am most grateful for is my husband.  He is my soulmate and my best friend in life.  I thank God everyday for putting him in my life not knowing what I did to deserve this man.  There is no one else I'd rather spend my life with and no one else who could compliment me the way he does.  We are Team Misra the invincible :)

Next thing I am grateful for which is a very close second to my husband is my family.  Without my parents I would not be the person I am today.  Without my brother I would be lost.  And marriage not only gave me a husband I am so proud of and in love with, but a second set of parents I can call family.  Family is everything to me.  <3

Third, I am so grateful for our puppy Bella.  She has truly become a member of our family and our life would be so different without her.  I never understood why people were so attached to their pets until I met Bella.  She truly makes our days more bright and us more happy :)

There are many more things I am thankful for such as the roof above our heads, our educations and careers, the food on our tables, the friends who make up our support system, etc.  but the above three make up the pillars in my life that make me thankful and appreciate what I have.

Happy Thanksgiving from our family to yours!!!

Thunder Road Half Marathon

On Saturday, November 17th, I ran my second half marathon here in Charlotte, NC! The Thunder Road Half Marathon was just the challenge I needed as it is not known for its flat terrain at all but rather its hilly course.

Friday night after checking into the Blake Hotel in uptown where the expo was being held, Rup & I wandered around the expo and picked up our race packets.  I'm so proud of my husband for running his 4th 5k!!! All in a matter of 6 months!  He is not a runner whatsoever but is very supportive of my hobby and for that I am so grateful :) Here I am at the expo:

The next morning I was up and anxious to get started:

Almost just as anxious to finish :)

Rup waited so patiently for me after he finished up his 5k run (for which he set his own personal record!!!):

I started approaching the finish line looking for my hubby and quickly found him right underneath the finish banner :)

Rup wasn't able to see me at the finish when I ran my first half marathon almost a year ago so it was awesome to have him there this time!

I am so excited that I made it thru the Thunder Road Half Marathon and look forward to several more races in the future, and perhaps if I'm really ambitious....a full marathon....someday....

For now, I'm content :)

Special thanks to my girl Sherri for training with me even though she couldn't be there on actual race day to run with me, thanks for being such a great motivator!  Can't wait to run that full marathon with ya ;)

Mr. and Dr. McKee!

A couple weekends ago we traveled to Richmond to see one of my close friends from pharmacy school get married!

This handsome guy was my lovely date for the weekend...

To see Amber walk down the aisle...
She was stunning!

One of the best parts of the weekend in addition to seeing Amber & Shane tie the knot was being reunited with all of my girlfriends from pharmacy school, I've missed them so so so much!

Here is the end of Amber & Shane's first dance as a married couple :)

And immediately after Amber had to have her dress busseled while she flashed me a beautiful smile :)

Here we are with the newlyweds!

So glad we got to see my best friend Jess & her boyfriend Steve :)

So many great memories from pharmacy school with all of these ladies, so glad I could see so many of my best friends in the same place all together despite our busy work schedules, love you so much!

Congratulations Amber & Shane!

Misra Family Fall Photo Shoot

A couple weeks ago Rup & I had our photos taken by Mike Strauss at the beautiful Freedom Park here in Charlotte.  For all of you bachelor & bachelorette fans, Freedom Park is where Emily & Brad had their date on Brad's season when he met her daughter Ricky.  I wanted us to have our photos taken since this is the beginning of a new stage in our lives having moved to Charlotte together and starting new jobs here.  Not to mention, timing was convenient since I used some of these pictures for our holiday photo card we are sending out this year :) Here are some of our favorites for you all to enjoy!

Be on the lookout for that photo holiday greetings card preview!

October Wrap Up

Please forgive me for such a long hiatus!!!  I'll try not to let it happen again! October was a crazy busy month and as much as I wanted to find time to update you all on the hectic month we were having, I just couldn't find enough time to do so!  When I wasn't working I was either traveling or jam packing my schedule with this and that.  I don't even know where October went!  To make up for it, I'll be blogging consecutive days in a row to fill you in on everything has happened since we got our apartment ready for fall back at the beginning of October.

Towards the beginning of the month, Rup was lucky enough to head out west to spend 10 days in Denver for two back to back emergency medicine conferences.  One of the many advantages of being a physician's spouse is being able to travel to these conferences with them :)  I went out to Denver to meet Rup in-between his two conferences for about four days of sightseeing and fun!  While we were there, we packed our agenda full to make the most of our time out in the beautiful state of Colorado!  Our itinerary included trips to Colorado Springs, Pikes Peak & surrounding Manitou Springs, Golden, Boulder, Estes Park, and the Rocky Mountain National Park in addition to downtown Denver where we were staying.  In the midst of all the traveling we made time to experience some of Denver's fine dining and breweries, enjoyed a couple's massage, and I fit in a 10 mile run in the mile high city in preparation for my upcoming half marathon.  Here are a bunch of photos from our trip:

Of course no vacation of ours is complete without a trip to a winery!  Here we are at Bookcliff Vineyards in Boulder, CO where they were awesome enough to let us "punch" grapes, a necessary part of their harvesting process, it was such a blast and unique experience!

Inside the beautiful Brown Palace Hotel where we stayed and enjoyed a couple's massage at the Brown Palace Spa.  This is before we were heading out to dinner one night.

The last few pics were all taken at the Rocky Mountain National Park, a beautiful landmark that anyone visiting Colorado must see!

We even managed to experience some elk sightings!

Shortly after coming back from our awesome trip and getting back into the work grind, my best friend Joyce came and visited for a weekend.  Bella was so excited to finally meet her aunt Joyce and have her around for a few days.  While I wish we lived closer, I'm so grateful that we are only a 4 hour car ride away from each other.
Bella being spoiled by Aunt Joyce!

At On the Boarder! We can NEVER go without some mexican food & margaritas when we're together.

As if I wasn't having enough fun for the month yet, my best friend Melissa and I headed to the Zac Brown Band concert with a fellow Rite Aid pharmacist Alyssa at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater here in Charlotte the day after her birthday, they are amazing in concert and this was my second time seeing them perform live!

As we approached the end of the month while working a lot to make up for days we'd taken off earlier in the month for traveling we still managed to fit in a few fun things with our friends.  We were convinced by our friends Sherri & Brad that since it was our first fall in Charlotte, we had to experience Scarowinds at Carowinds amusement park to prepare for Halloween festivities.  It was quite the fright I must admit going thru 8 haunted houses/attractions and a couple coasters, but we had a blast nonetheless and I'd lost my voice the next morning.
The creepy scary guy managed to sneak into our picture without us knowing which makes this photo so much more perfect!

And what's some time spent at an amusement park without winning a stuffed animal?  Here is the new penguin addition to our family who shall remain unnamed ;) (You had to be there to understand the situation!)

A few days of work went by and my husband surprised me with tickets to the Kellogs Tour of Gymnastics Champions as they were stopping in Charlotte!  I was a gymnast growing up and it is my absolute favorite sport in the whole world.  He knew how much it would mean to me to be able to see olympic gymnasts perform right here in Charlotte and got me such a thoughtful gift of tickets to see the Fab Five from London perform live!!!!!  While Kayla Ross could not make the tour and McKayla Maroney had injured herself, it was still awesome seeing the rest of the group and some previous olympic gymnasts as well.  The women's gymnasts were of course joined by the US men's olympic team and they were so amazing as well!  One of the many things I love about my husband is how thoughtful he is and for that I am so incredibly grateful :)

As the month died down, we found ourselves both working the night of Halloween, but that did not stop us from celebrating a little early with our friends :) Bella was so excited to celebrate her first Halloween as well, with her boyfriend Stitches nonetheless.

With a November Presidential election soon approaching Rup & I were so grateful that North Carolina had early voting in place where we could perform our civic duty :) Even Bella participated as she kept us company in the short line!

Lastly, I just wanted to share my favorite "new" recipe for the month of October:

And thats a wrap for October!  Stay tuned for how exciting November has already been for us ;)  I promise I won't leave for so long again!
